Hello, I'm Amanda Farquharson, BSN, RN,

Registered nurse, travel nurse, somatic practitioner, and proud founder of ZenNurse.

My Story

For the past nine years, I’ve walked hospital corridors, cared for patients through their most vulnerable moments, and squeezed in brief moments to move my body whenever I could. But behind the uniform and the clinical confidence was a person wrestling with depression, anxiety, and a deep‐rooted habit of people‐pleasing. I was “holistically minded” on paper, yet in practice, I felt disconnected, physically, mentally, and energetically.

Early in my career, I thrived on the adrenaline of emergency shifts, high acuity patients, and the camaraderie of fellow nurses. But the stress piled up. I’d try every fitness routine under the sun, a quick HIIT class before a 12‐hour shift, a run after my shift, and a weekend hike up a mountain whenever I could carve out the time.

I've always loved moving my body, but I kept hitting a wall.

I plateaued, my motivation waned, and I constantly felt on the edge, never fully present in my own skin.

Then came a major health scare that knocked the wind out of me. My body sent me an urgent message: something had to change, or I wouldn’t have a choice in the matter.

That’s when I discovered somatic movement, an approach to healing that isn’t about chasing calories or pumping iron, but about listening to the wisdom of your body, releasing stored tension, and reconnecting with yourself.

It didn’t just help me climb out of the depths of despair and ease my anxiety. Somatic movement quite literally saved my life.

I have been in remission from an autoimmune disease ever since I committed to this form of healing.

Through gentle, intentional practices, I learned to honor my nervous system, to rewire old trauma patterns, and to rebuild trust in my body. I went from bracing through each day to actually feeling grounded, centered, and alive. Today, I teach these same tools to fellow nurses who, like me, are drowning in burnout, chronic stress, and a constant “go‐go‐go” mindset.

As a somatic practitioner, here’s what I bring to the table:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Yoga Teacher Training (200-hour)

  • Mindfulness Coach Certificate

  • Emotional Intelligence Coach Certificate

  • EFT/TFT Tapping Coach Certificate

  • Somatic Healing Certificate

  • Advanced Somatic Healing Certificate
  • Somatic Exercise Teacher Training

At ZenNurse, my mission is simple: help nurses reclaim their power, release long‐held tension, and rediscover joy—one breath, one movement, one moment at a time.

I believe that when we learn to listen to what our bodies need, we can transform not only our own lives but also show up more fully for our patients, our families, and ourselves.

If you’ve spent too many shifts feeling disconnected from your body or afraid to prioritize your own well‐being, you’re in the right place.

Let’s walk this path together—because healing isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity for anyone who spends their life caring for others.

BeWell,
Amanda Farquharson, BSN, RN
